  2. I would like to spend apprx $1000 or less for an Apple laptop that will operate some I Been Manipulated programs also. What would you suggest. Doesn't need to be megasized!

  3. I really like my white Macbook, it's $999 new. The refurbished apple store changes daily, if you happen to find a white one it should be around $899. There are some really cheap used laptops on gainsaver, but I have never bought from them.

  4. Um, I don't think Apple is going to release anymore colored desktop computers. They transitioned away from them and have used the colors on their iPod products. But, you just never really know...

  5. Why does my 24in iMac suddenly go to sleep and then fail to respond to my keyboard? I have had to power it off (force it to shut down by holding down the power button) and then restart it. It restarts and acts like nothing happened but I am starting to worry - this is the 3rd time with the last 2 times in the same week. Should I be concerned? Is there something I can do to fix it?

  6. My best guess is the keyboard/mouse is plugged in to a usb hub that is causeing problems. Try plugging the keyboard in to a different usb port.

There is any easy fix that PC users do all the time, go to the energy saver panel in system preferences, and set it to never go to sleep, or at least crank it up to 3 hours.

  8. I ordered a imac 24 from John R's friend, I wonder if i am going to be satified with iphoto when i am used to 3 % of the capabilities of photoshop?

  9. Yahooo! A 24"! Yay for you Jennie! I think you are going to love it.

I actually use both iPhoto and Photoshop! I keep my photos organized in iPhoto by dates and keywords and use faces to keep track of photos of everyone. I love the 'events' view that allows me to see all of my photo folders by event(date taken) like little mini albums.

I use Photoshop CS3 any time I want to 'fix' a picture or crop it for my blog or arrange collages for printing at home (or via internet services), etc. There are so many things that Photoshop does that iPhoto does not (anymore) and they compliment each other.

I prefer to fix color and crop in Photoshop rather than in iPhoto just because it is easier for me. I have not learned how to use layers and brushes but that is on my 'to do' list. I know there are lots of cool ways to use this program to really accentuate photos and I have tried a couple of quick frames but not much else. The process seems to be fairly easy, I just need to spend some time with it.

Of course, you can crop and edit in iPhoto but I think Photoshop has a better range of change within the actions. I just import the photo(s) I want to work on from iPhoto into Photoshop and then fix them, save as "new file.jpg" and save them to my desktop to find quickly. You can save back to the same folder in iPhoto too. That keeps your original and your fixed copy together.

Although red-eye repair is much easier in iPhoto.
    Just sayin'...

I hope that helps a bit and isn't too convoluted.
Let me know if you have any other questions. : )

  12. I just got the new MAC Mini and love it (prior PC user) and am still learning, but will NEVER go back. I use MAC Mail Version 4.2 .
I send a newsletter daily, and when composing it from then prior day (to keep the same format) get a box around something I want to highlight with an 'X' in the upper left corner. If I click on the "X" everything inside is deleted. I want to turn this annoying thing off but cannot figure out how? Help please...
    Thanks so much

  13. I have a friend that is loosing his eyesight. He has purchased two Mac minis to try to take advantage of the Voice Over and Voice Command features that Mac supplies with their OS.

Is there anyone that you could suggest that would be able to help him set up his office and home computers the same and give him instructions on how to be able to hear his emails and web pages?

I would appreciate a contact number or email address for anyone that may be able to help.

    Thank you,
    Brian
